Zalingei

The United States condemns the reported SAF drone attack on June 9th on the key Ardamata bridge. Our humanitarian partners like the #SudanHumanitarianFund depend on this bridge to bring emergency food and medical supplies to Zalingei and points further into West and Central Darfur, with 31.3 million tons of humanitarian aid having already transited Adre in 2026. There is no military solution to this conflict; humanitarian and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. The warring parties must accept a humanitarian truce to enable needed aid to reach the millions of Sudanese in need.

Darfur was not a military operation that got out of control. It was ideological architecture in action. Al-Fashir. Nyala. El Geneina. Zalingei. The language used internally was explicit: "internal jihad." The Janjaweed under Musa Hilal were ideological tools run on direct religious justification. UN commissions documented it. The ICC indicted Bashir, Harun and Kushayb for it. The NIF framed massacre as faith.

#Sudan: The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the detention by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of 23 students from Central Darfur State while they were traveling to Chad to sit for the Sudanese secondary school examinations scheduled for next June. According to CFJ’s documentation, the students were stopped last week while traveling from the Golo area in Jebel Marra, before being transferred to the city of Zalingei, amid information indicating that some of their families received calls demanding financial payments in exchange for their release.
