What are the requirement courses and hows the student dorm situation? The last Hamaj of Jebel Moya, ca. 1930 The Hamaj were a variety of people who thrived in the southern Gezira from Jebel Moya just west of Sennar to the Ethiopian borderlands in the south. They formed a class within the Funj Sultanate and eventually seized power with Abu Likaylik's coup in 1762. They spoke a variety of now lost languages, the best-known of which probably being Gule. Some traditions claim that Jebel Moya was conquered by the Funj in the mid-16th century, others that the Funj had their base at Jebel Moya before they even founded Sennar. It's pretty cool that self-identiying Hamaj still thrived that far north as late as the 30s.
